FUTMINNA AND FMC BIDA SIGN MOU TO ESTABLISH COLLEGE OF HEALTH SCIENCES

In a landmark step to strengthen their longstanding partnership, the Federal University of Technology, Minna (FUTMINNA) and the Federal Medical Centre, Bida (FMCB) have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to establish a College of Health Sciences. The signing ceremony was held today, Thursday, May 22, 2025, at the FMC premises in Bida, Niger State.

Speaking at the event, FUTMINNA Vice-Chancellor, Professor Faruk Adamu Kuta, described the collaboration as a new era for both institutions. He announced that academic training is expected to begin in the next session, with the programme designed to meet established academic and professional standards. Professor Kuta expressed confidence in the successful implementation of the partnership’s objectives.
In his remarks, Dr. Abubakar Usman, Medical Director of FMCB, reaffirmed the Centre’s commitment to service delivery, research, and training. He stressed the urgency of producing more healthcare professionals amid growing emigration in the medical sector, calling the MoU a significant milestone in the institutions’ collaboration.

Other members of the FMCB team praised the leadership of both institutions for their dedication to expediting the programme’s launch. They emphasized the importance of continuous training in the health profession and noted that the new college would enhance research opportunities and institutional visibility.
Mrs. Fausat Fadeke Danmallam, Head of Planning, Research, and Statistics at FMCB, delivered the vote of thanks. She commended FUTMINNA’s management for their commitment and prayed for the continued growth and success of the initiative.

The event concluded with the official signing of the MoU and a guided tour of the Antenatal Clinic and Gynaecology Emergency Unit.
